What is the course about?

  • It is about showing you how to learn any foreign language.
  • It is designed for learners at all levels, of all abilities, learning any foreign language.
  • It is NOT just another language course!

[SPI:K] complements any course you choose to follow, leading you along the path to fluency.
It is a PRACTICAL, and all about actually DOING the activities.

Only then will you be able to learn and practice the skills presented each topic.

The course takes into account whatever language skills you already have and will then help you to acquire what we call the “language-learning talent”.

Course Layout

The course is structured around 10 fundamental skills.

  • Each session starts with a short video introducing the topic.
  • The core of each session is a document that details the topic and explains the theory behind it.
  • Because every skill is developed by DOING, each session includes an activity sheet with practical exercises.

Course Content

The course is organised in a very logical way. This will help you to develop the necessary skills from the foundations upwards.

Once you’ve completed the course, we recommend going back in any order to review and reinforce specific skills.

You may find that you didn’t fully understand the first time around, but things will become clearer as you apply the new skills you’ve learnt.

Topics

Session 1

Introduces a powerful tool at the core of all learning activities: your mindset.
It is easy to understand but takes time to put in place. Refining this skill creates the power and stability that drives all the other skills.

Session 2

Maps out the road (and also the hurdles) to fluency in any language.

Sessions 3, 4, and 6

Focus on how to expand your vocabulary and use it immediately to speak in your target language.

Session 5

Has been called “the Sweet Spot” by past students. It is where you learn to manage your effort so that it feels easy and satisfying and you are able to perform to the best of your ability.

Session 7

Focuses on organising your study time.

If you can’t find the time to learn, no progress will happen! Hence, the need to be smart in how you arrange your time.

Session 8

Deals with frustration, the natural by-product that comes with any learning! You will recognise and control your emotions, and that will greatly improve your communication skills and use of language.

Session 9

Teaches that in order to learn a language, we need to interact with REAL people in the REAL world.

This requires networking of some kind, be that a formal class, a tutor, friends and family, etc. This serves a double purpose. It builds your own communication skills and how well you relate to others.

Session 10

Deals with a key learning powerhouse: Motivation. It focuses on self-confidence and teaches you how to achieve optimal learning results.
